Slaugh
Once thought to be fallen angels they deny all knowledge of heaven, angels or the Dark Lord who supposedly corrupted them. Slaugh are usually reclusive and like to keep to themselves or a small minority of their own progeny.
When we think of fallen angels we either think of the Devil himself (his alternate names, or his most important followers which ever your religious background dictates, Satan, Lucifer etc etc) or we think of ones now portrayed in movies having landed on earth and trying to find a way back up. Sadly the Slaugh look like none of these, they do not look like demons and they do not look like beautiful winged people, they do however look like ordinary folk, guys and gals you’d pass on the street and never give a second glance.
Unlike the American Vampire and the Nosferatu who think they are harmed by religious artefacts the Slaugh truly are harmed by religious items. Slaugh is the general name given to all they have sub orders that appear in various faiths, all harmed by their own religion and not by the others.
A few try to be good but there is an inherent badness or trickster way about them, they enjoy messing things up and playing with peoples minds, not telepathically but doing things to make people doubt themselves and believe they have made the wrong choices in life, they relish the fact they can drive people to suicide.
They feed on blood, preferring to feed on people that they have brought to a sorrowful state or even waiting until one has committed suicide.
They are living creatures, they are not immortal, they take a long time to grow, a rough guide would be one year of their life is somewhere between five and ten of ours, a well nourished one can live longer.
They reproduce like mammals, the female is pregnant for about five years they protect their offspring viciously until they are about a hundred maybe hundred and fifty then let them find their own way.
A curious note which is made, in private away from everyone a Slaugh will sleep hanging upside down.
They can be killed by drowning in holy water, staked or shot through the heart with silver or sanctified gold, normal bullets or any other stake will not work, holding them in a religious site until they burn and turn to ash, expose to direct sunlight, if a religious leader says a particular prayer to exorcise a demon.
