They say fantasies are just that, fantasies, miracles never happen and never meet those you’ve idolised as you’ll only be disappointed. All three happened to the man, that night there was no doubt he wanted more...

Gevaudin

Although famous for the mysterious beast who killed lots of people the area lends its name to a race of vampires. Gevaudin keep to themselves and do not harm humans but they do take cattle, this has led to their demise. Vampire Hunters have been hired to keep the area free from any supernatural creatures.

Gevaudan was the name of the original Vampire to the area. A Gaul that came to live with the Gallic tribe Gabali at a young age, as he grew he fought the Romans tirelessly, then as he would say one night he woke and he ‘was’. That is all he’d ever say about how he came to be a Vampire, he never mentioned a creator or any process in which he was turned or went through any form of transformation.

It is a true tragedy when a ancient one or founder dies, this Vampire lived for a few hundred years before meeting his end. The Gevaudin race do not drink human blood, never have done, a werewolf came wandering an angry and vengefully werewolf, hell bent on seeking revenge for his lost pack killed by humans, it came across a gathering of Vampires, now normally an abomination is a werewolf Turned Vampire but in this instance the savage creature attacked the Vampires infecting them with wicked blood. The group changed, they had no control, instead of feeding on animals they turned to humans, hunting them anytime they could. Gevaudan’s son was killed, stuffed and paraded about like a trophy, Gevaudan angry tried to find his body so he could morn but he was killed in the end for attacking yet another human in June 1767.

That entire angry group were wiped out, all the oldest Gevaudin plus a couple of the youngest. The remainder of the race were a threat to the humans, though they only fed on livestock the humans always believed it was wolves or werewolves and killed them.

The Gevaudin are a peaceful race, they feed on animals and live away from humans but if disturbed can fight rather well. They live a lot like Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men with isolated group spread around, it would seem now to create a new Gevaudin it requires a ceremony and blood letting from the tribes elders. The feeding of the blood alone does not work the ceremony has to be adhered to strictly. The ceremony gives the person a sort of Out-of-Body experience  and in that gap the blood is given so when the soul returns to it’s body it now has a different blood type, giving the person a thirst for blood alone, as well as some minor abilities.

Gevaudin talk to animals and are masters of camouflage.

They are killed in a similar way to the Succubus and Incubus but silver bullets shot into the heart, head or spinal column will also kill them, shot with a normal bullet they are fine shot in other body parts with a silver bullet wounds them severely, until the bullet it physically removed and any silver traces washed away the wound will not heal and leave them weak.

Though they come from the Gevaudan/Gevauden area of France they have spread wider forming small groups through certain parts of Europe, some went to Canada and from there a couple to America.
